This is a one-day practical pesticides training course which is workshop based and specifically working with a knapsack sprayer. The training will focus on safe practice, routine maintenance and calibration of the knapsack.
Candidates must first attend PA1 & attend PA6A assessment after PA6A training to gain certification.
The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical training. Our PA6A Pesticides Training and assessment programme enables operators to gain recognition & certification for pesticide application. Successful PA6A Pesticides Training course candidates gain certification after demonstrating their skills, knowledge and attitudes associated with knapsack use & application.
WHAT WILL BE COVERED?
This course prepares candidates for the City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pesticides using Pedestrian Hand Held Equipment assessment covering hand held sprayers; ensuring that they are able to apply pesticides using this equipment in a safe, effective manner and in accordance with current legislation. Learners are expected to read a pesticide label and utilise a calculator to measure and calculate the area to be treated and ensuring correct the correct quantities of pesticides are used. You’ll be taken through the correct procedures for calibrating applicator speeds and spray widths, as well as measuring, mixing and filling the applicator, before applying the pesticide.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Identify and describe how hand held applicators work; identify and select nozzles for various applications; achieve the required spray quality; carry out pre-start checks; calibrate the applicator; mix and fill applicator accurately and safely; operate the applicator safely and efficiently in various situations; prevent environmental hazards; decontaminate and store equipment
