Manual Handling is a physical activity that takes place in every workplace, and in some cases the activity does not pose problem. However it can be a potential workplace hazard when an employee is required to handled very heavy loads, which could result in a back injury.
WHAT IS COVERED?
The course requires approximately 1 day to complete, including skills practice. While the main content of the course is general, each course is different in terms of learners, circumstance and requirements. There is no exam or assessment with this course but full participation is required to receive certification.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Participants will gain the following skills:
- Facts and statistics in relation to manual handling
- Legal issues as they relate to manual handling
- Structure of the spine
- Base lifting technique
- Development of technique
(a) Awkward Places
(b) Awkward loads
- Dual lifting techniques
This course will include video slides
ARE THERE ANY PER-REQUISITES – You must be at least 16 years of age to undertake the training and assessment. Participants should supply own Personal Protective Equipment.

1/2 Day Refresher Course
ACCREDITATION – Cosgrove Safety Services Certification Recognised and Accepted Through Out Ireland. Upon successful completion candidates will be assessed for Manual Handling Certification.
